Fiona's new CD? Oh, I seriously can't wait! I can see myself being one of the people waiting outside some music store for midnight of October 4th to arrive, just so I can be one of the first people to get it. I got the "unfinished" version off the net and its amazing, and she's adding songs and changing songs, so its just going to be amazing.

*hugs you back*

Way to go for studying for your placement exams. I didn't at all - just ran out of time/motivation. I failed my theory and ear training exams - they were SO much harder than I expected (and I had forgotten a whole lot more than I thought). The history exams were fine - I'm going to have to retake the first part on early music, but I was really close to passing so it'll just take a couple weeks of study. Man those exams sucked serious ass, though - I think only 15 or so people passed the theory/aural ones (out of 50 people).

Yeah I have a feeling my placement exams are going to suck as well. For music history we have to write essays on topics from different time periods. Music theory is not supposed to be too bad but I'm studying like a fiend because its a timed test, so if you don't finish in time, you fail. And the sight singing exam is going to SUCK. And then language diction exams. Ugh. And all in the first two days of orientation. I really don't want to have to take any review courses. As if my schedule has ANY free room.

Wait, where? At U-dub or at Peabody?

I took theory exams at both but haven't taken history exams at either.

oh and business cards - swell idea. Where are you getting yours?

Business cards are free at Vistaprint.com. well, you have to pay for shipping. But that's like $5, and you get something around 200 cards. To get them for free you just have to let them put their little vistaprint insignia on the back of the card. So its cool.

Yes, but Vista Print looks EXTREMELY unprofessional. After seeing an abundance of them at Berklee, they feel like the official "I did this because I could" business cards.

Hire a graphic designer. A good one will make you a card that represents YOU.

Haha, they aren't THAT bad. And right now I just don't feel the need to put any real investment in business cards. Especially knowing that my phone number and email and other contact info may change from year to year right now.

Also, the card I get is the one with the swirl of paint on it, and its fun to give it to my astro physics friends and my music friends and my art friends and see how all the different people interpret what it is.

For now, vistaprint cards are serving the necessary function of business cards, and that's all I really need at the moment.

Neither my phone number nor my email address have changed in the past, uhh, 5 years. Why should yours?

I merely change the city in which I reside. Your graphic designer should be kind enough to reopen the PSD, select the layer and type your new city and send you the updated template every time you change cities :)

Marketing yourself (actually, marketing in general) is about branding. I'm the pretty long hair who wears a tie, carries a silver breifcase and has the note-y business card :)

I lived in three different places (and consequently three different addresses) during my time in Princeton. Then I moved to nyc. Now I'm moving to Baltimore. I plan on staying at the Stafford for the next two years, but judging from my previous reccord of moving every year, I'm not counting on it.

And I changed cell phone plans three times, as well. And my Westminster and Princeton email accounts that I was using are no longer active.

It would be nice if a graphic designer would be so kind, but I'm not counting on that either. I'm sure there'd be a charge in there some where.

And I agree with you about branding. I'm the egg-head, likes-weird-twentieth-century-music-and-astro-physics blond chick with the cheap business cards from vistaprint. hehe ;)

It's not queer...really

Lol. Yeah, that's interesting you said that, because a few days ago I remember being asked what the most over-rated candy is, and I answered skittles.

I just had a friend move from JHU to NYC, so you're replacing her in Baltimore, or maybe she's replacing you in NY! You're both smart, talented, powerful women, so I think it's a fair trade. Enjoy Baltimore!

haha cool! Is she on LJ by chance? Sounds like someone I'd like to get to know, for sure :)

No, unfortunately she's not. I guess maybe she's too busy for LJ. :) But, technically, aren't we all?

haha, I totally don't have time for Lj. Its like an addiction. I know I could be doing something else, and I really need to get something else done, but I NEED MY FIX of blogging.

Where is the NJ Shakespeare Fest being held?

How long is it going to be running? The end of the month?

From: [identity profile] unbound-spirit.livejournal.com
NJ Shakespeare Fest is at Drew University, which is in Madison, NJ. (Right next to Morristown, exit 35 off of Rt 287).

The festival runs all summer into the fall. So far they've also done "The Merry Wives of Windsor" and "Les Liasons Dangereus" as well. And Julius Ceseare is up next.

But I just came back from seeing Galileo, which I believe runs the rest of the month and into September, and it is THE MOST AMAZING play I've seen there in YEARS. I highly suggest you see it if you are in the area. I cried, it was so beautiful and poignant.
