LOL! Yeah, she's also really, really short. Like, this coming from someone who barely makes it to 5'3". Somewhere not in a public forum I will have to tell you what she said to me about my former voice teacher from college. She may be old, but she's still got bite!
Yeah, she is totally awesome. I met her a long time ago back when I was singing in NJ State Opera chorus. The chorusmaster introduced me and I told her who I was studying with in undergrad, and she said something really halarious which I probably shouldn't repeat in a public forum, but it just showed that, even at this age, she's still got bite!
the most important thing to her is..the words. :) She's big into acting and knowing what she sings and what it means. she used to replace fake fruit on stage with real fruit for scenes. shes all about realism! she would yell WORDS, WORDS! HAHA
Yeah, that's EXACTLY what my coach said. He said to make sure I know exactly what every single word means because she's really big on that. Damn, I better go over my translations, haha!
I've been reading your journal for a long time - I'm not sure if we're friends though! I don't really use LJ anymore, so that could be it.
Anyway. I'm thinking about transferring to Westminster Choir College from Carnegie Mellon...just to study with Sharon Sweet. I don't really know much about their program, besides all the one-sided wonderful things Ms. Sweet has to say. I remember that you went there and I think transferr there as well? If you can give me any information, or advice, or whatever! I'd appreciate it. My email is "stietjen@andrew.cmu.edu"
I wrote you an email which I hope will be helpful to you in your decision making. Please understand that your experience may be very different from mine, especially since you are a guy and will probably have more opportunities just because of that alone, but my personal experience was not good at all. And Mrs. Sweet may also be a good fit for you as a teacher, and like I said, she may really take a liking to you, and in that case she will go way out of her way to help you with anything, but, well, I told you how it was for me in the email. Let me know what you think and what you decide. Good luck, and thanks for reading, I'm flattered! -Pamela
