My jury was this morning, and I passed! I am now officially halfway done with my Masters degree. I have a lot of plans for next year, including a ton of music I want to learn, some projects I want to do, etc. Two years is really not enough time.
Now its time to do a little relaxing, reading (currently reading Victor Hugo's Les Miserables) writing, painting, and learning Suor Angelica, of course. In just a few weeks, I'll be soaking up the sun and singing my heart out in ROME!
Oh and guess who's coming to live with me this summer.
mechanyx . Rich and my mom under one roof. Hells yeah.
Let the summer fun begin!!!

Date: 2006-05-18 08:24 pm (UTC)I LOVE Peabody! Its been amazing! I have had more performing opportunities here than I ever thought imaginable. They are also very good at pushing you in the right ways, to help you learn and grow. I go into so many projects here feeling like a a really stupid musician, but at the end I always feel like I achieved and produced something great. I have learned so much since I came here, I can't get over it. This semester I had some vocal issues with actually singing TOO much, and as a result I think my technique suffered, but next semester I plan to chill out a bit with the performing and really focus on getting my instrument in shape. I seriously think Peabody is the perfect school for me in so many ways. Like I said, I have grown immesurably since I came here. Its great. There are some people who are not happy here, but, its usually for reasons like that they don't get along with other students or their teachers or they're not getting out of the school what they thought they'd get. But I don't know, I LOVE it, and I'm getting exactly what I wanted and MORE, so I'm very happy. I wish I had more time than just two years to stay at Peabody and really perfect my craft, which is why the GPD option (Graduate Performance Diploma) is something I'm considering when I'm done with my masters.
Rainbolt is good. I don't know about his work wih basses and baritones specifically but he has some pretty good students. And he's a nice guy. I like all the teachers at Peabody though. They all have something a little different to bring to the table. And they are all very nurturing but also demanding in the right ways.
If you have any other questions please ask. I'm totally open to answering anything. I highly recommend Peabody. I can't believe I didn't audition here for my undergraduate!
