Upcoming Performances
Jan. 25th, 2007 08:17 pmApril 3rd, 2007 at Friedberg Concert Hall, Peabody Conservatory: I will be singing the role of Sophie in a scene from Nicholas Maw's recent opera Sophie's Choice. Annie Gill will be singing the role of Wanda. Aside from this being a really cool work to sing, Nicholas Maw is on the Peabody composition faculty, so that makes it extra special. It would be even more extra special if he came to the performance. I hope he will.
and most stressfully (but also most awesomely)...
March 20th, 2007, at 8 pm, Griswold Hall, Peabody Conservatory: My MASTERS RECITAL!!!! On the program is Apparition by George Crumb, three songs on poems by Sandor Waroes by Gyorgy Ligeti, Evocations by Harry Somers, a vocal work by Claude Vivier, and a piece called "Memory" for three voices and percussion by Isang Yun. All of these pieces are totally nuts in different ways. There will be playing and singing inside the piano (yes, literally, with my head stuck down inside the thing) there will be weird sounds, chanting, insanity, and a serious lack of tonal center. Believe me, you don't want to miss it. This is not your typical voice recital.
Well, kids, I've got a lot of work to do...
